Falkland Primary School has announced that a new headteacher will be taking over the leadership of the school from this term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kavashni Bamfield, previously the Wash Common school's deputy head, has taken over the post from Linda Wood who retired at the end of the previous school year after leading the school for seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Bamfield, originally from South Africa, was inspired to become a teacher by her father who taught people in disadvantaged rural communities in her home country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has held a number of leadership roles during a long and successful teaching career in London and West Berkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was previously an assistant maths hub lead at the Mobius Maths Hub at The Willink School in Burghfield and she has also served as West Berkshire Council's school improvement adviser for maths, where she oversaw work to raise standards in the subject across the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Bamfield said: \"I am delighted and honoured to accept the role of headteacher at Falkland Primary and I am looking forward to contributing to the success of this supportive school and its incredible pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
