Teacher Edita of Matilda Lithuanian School participated in the Lithuanian Ministry of Education's Lithuanian education training

Engaging students requires not only making a connection but also providing them with new and relevant knowledge, which is why teachers also invest in themselves and in broadening their horizons.

Edita Alksnienė, a teacher at Matilda Lithuanian School, is no exception. In October, she participated in a two-day live conference, where she gained knowledge and received a certificate.

The conference "Lithuanian Language in Today's Schools" was aimed at teachers of Lithuanian schools abroad, so we could not miss the opportunity to participate.

On the first day of the event, the teacher heard 10 interesting and relevant presentations on values and their importance in the educational process, paradoxes related to the Lithuanian language and its historical development, artificial intelligence and its application in language learning, and the experience of teaching in Lithuanian language schools abroad.

On the second day, the teacher took part in the workshop "Sources and Methods of Teaching the Lithuanian Language". Together with other teachers, they discussed how to strengthen literacy in Lithuanian language classes by using different methods to help students remember spelling rules and shared best practices.

Teacher Edita brought back a lot of useful information and new ideas related to the Lithuanian language, which we will use in our lessons. It is important to us that our students learn according to the advice and guidelines of the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, which is one of the most important criteria, so we are interested in the latest developments and apply them to our own.

Following this conference, we have decided to extend the school day for 7-9 year olds. Instead of 1.30 hours, it will be 2.30 hours to cover the whole curriculum - both Lithuanian literature and grammar.

We invite you to become part of our school by giving your children the opportunity to learn their mother tongue with their peers.
